The model depicts Messerschmitt Me-262A1A Schwalbe White 17, Werk Number 110956, III Gruppe/EJG 2, flown by Fw. Franz Holzinger at the Lechfield Air Base, Germany in March 1945.

The Werk Number and RLM 74 and RLM 75 upper surface splinter paint scheme and RLM 76 lower surface finish indicate that the aircraft was an early delivery Me-262.

An Erganzungs-Jagdgeshwadwer (EJG) was a Luftwaffe replacement training unit which was part of a larger operational Jagdgeshwader. At this late stage of the war, the Germans were forced to undertake operations and training simultaneously. The “S” marking on the tail and within the fuselage side national cross outline show the aircraft was so assigned.

The model was built out of the box except for use of Hungarian Aero Decals 48105 Me-262 A1 decal sheet and paper safety belts.

Finishing was accomplished using Tamiya acrylic paints.

The kit was a joy to build and another well-engineered Tamiya 1/48 scale aircraft model.
