The Hasegawa kit was built to depict the North American RF-86F-30 Saber jet FU-977 “Miss Tena” flown by Colonel W. B. Wilmot, 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Wing, Suwon Air Base, S. Korea in 1953.

The model was built out of the box except for use of a Quickboost 48511 F86F Saber Ejection Seat w/Safety Belts. I had to obtain a Scale Aircraft Conversions 48201 F-86 Sabre Landing Gera set as my kit landing gear suffered from a plastic miss pour and couldn’t be used.

I experimented using Model Master Metalizer paint, and can’t say I was completely happy with the results. Even after using their “Sealer”, masking would pull off some of the finish.

Although liberal amounts of Micro Set and Micro Sol helped, I think the kit decals are too thick and covered too much area with empty carrier. I recommend going with aftermarket replacements.
