The model depicts Battle of Britain Messerschmitt Bf-109E-3 of 3/JG 52 flown by Ulfz. Karl Wolff while stationed at the Pihen/Calais airfield in France, August 1940.

I purchased the kit at a local club’s “distressed kit” auction, and was amazed at the level of detail Eduard’s 8262 ProfiPACK kit provided in both the plastic parts and decal options. Much better, in my opinion, then their competitor’s offerings.

Although Eduard’s ProfiPACK kits normally include both masks, PE,, and often resin replacement parts, as a “distresses kit”, they were missing from mine.

I used the Eduard EX439 Bf-109E-1/E-3 Mask set on the canopy, and, as I accidently broke off the tail wheel, used the resin rear wheel from the Brassin 648282 Bf-109F Wheel set as a replacement. Due to the kit’s engineering, I had to drill out both the tail wheel strut and replacement part and install a pin to hold both in place.

Finishing was accomplished using Tamiya paints weathered with oils.
